How do you transfer files when the receiving machine is offline?

Upload to a service that can store the files until the receiving machine reconnects. The sending machine needs an internet connection during upload. Once the Bundle is published, you can collect it later from an authorized device; the two machines do not need to be online together.

  1. 01

Try to hand off files to a remote machine, but it is offline.

  2. 02

Try to hand off files with scp or rsync, but the file path is unknown.

  3. 03

Transferring lots of small files means you zip first, then unpack on the other side.

  4. 04

Want to look up past transfers, but it couldn't be found.

  5. 05

Transfers from different projects pile up, making it hard to distinguish.

  6. 06

Like the push/pull convenience of Git, but do not want to commit files that are not source code.

If you share these experiences, Relay is the answer.

What changes for large files?

A long upload needs a clear completion state. Relay publishes a Bundle after its files are ready, keeps directory structure, and supports CLI transfer recovery. Keep your source files and local transfer state until the operation completes. Available storage and network speed still limit the transfer.
